Out of Hauz Experiences vol. 1 was performed during Aarhus Festival 2008 at the following locations:

Sept. 3 at 9pm & 10pm: Atrium at Arkitema, an architect firm
Sept. 4 at 9pm & 10pm: DSB "Godsbanen", The Danish Railroad
Sept. 5 at 9pm & 10pm: Studio 2 - Filmstudios - Aarhus

In the first part of the trilogy Out of Hauz Experiences, Mancopy investigates what happens when the dancers move out of the safe environment of the stage and into different, unfamiliar urban locations. Here the dancers explore the limits of their dance in new settings.

Out of Hauz Experiences vol. 1 is the creation of French guest choreographer Dominique Porte - a choreographer experienced with site-specific work. She plays with space as an aspect of the dance and breaks the traditional relationship between audience and dancer. With this project Mancopy was exposed to, and drew, audiences who normally do not attend traditional  contemporary dance performances.

Out of Hauz Experiences vol. 1 was created specifically for Aarhus Festival 2008. Out of Hauz Experiences vol. 2 and Out of Hauz Experiences vol. 3 will be produced in spring 2009. Out of Hauz Experiences vol. 2, choreographaed by Jens Bjerregaard, will be performed in February 2009 at the municipal bath and pool Spanien in the middle of Aarhus. Out of Hauz Experiences vol. 3, choreographed by the AICC 2080 winner Rachel Erdos, will be performed in May 2009.

Quotes of reviews

Århus Stiftstidende by Jette Skjoldborg

... and when the color of the neon lights changes from cold blue to warm red, an interpersonal meeting and contact is seriously brought into focus. A voice commands the dancers to make contact with the audience. They look intensely in our eyes, look with curiosity at our shoes, and smile friendly and kindly. It is banal in a way, but it works. The atmosphere is light and relaxed, both among the audience and the dancers. During the final piano sequence, two dancers create a beautiful moving sculpture, while a woman waves at least ten pairs of running shoes in the air. Pure magic occurs and you feel privileged to be there, in the meeting between the dance, the space, and the audience.

I warmly recommend all curious people to show up when Mancopy invites you to this dance performance, whether it be performed in the nerve of traffic or under the sea.
