RAUM

A dance performance that unites architecture, dance, and music in an equal standing interaction.

RAUM is about the room created by man; it explores the effect of the exterior frames that we continuously relate to. The condensed scenery of the performance, with its transitions, limits, obstacles, and ramps, sets the room and limitations for the expression of the body.

The fixed and movable will be turned upside down, and it will be as much the dynamics of the room as the body, that creates the movements.

Quotes from reviews:

Information, Anne Middelboe Christensen, 23/9 2008

RAUM is a recumbent choreography. Mancopy consists of six dancers, who all fulfill Bjerregaard's uncompromising demands of precision and easiness.

Kim Helweg's beautiful dream music gives a special lift to the choreography, bringing it into a light, clouded sphere of abstraction. When Helweg tempts Bjerregaard with his loops, the performance flashes with light and thoughts of happiness.

Bjerregaard capitalised on his international visibility and contacted the German set designers who designed the most beautiful mobile.

Bjerregaard's playing with abstractions leaves an expression of lightness and astonishment.

Berlingske Tidende, Vibeke Wern, Sept. 18th 2008

****

In Jens Bjerregaard's ”Raum” we experience six dancers creating space, both when they stand, move in lines, diagonals, angles or in body sculptural formations, are up or down, close or far from you, fast or slow.

The dancers are beatiful and it is in particular difficult to get your eyes away from French Eve Garnier and Chinese Kang Ma.

Weekendavisen, Majbrit Hjelmsbo, Oct. 12th 2007

Raum had Jens Bjerregaard's characteristic brand, a light, fluent choreography where the lines of the dancers creates their own various and abstract architecture in the stageroom. Very successfullly jens Bjerregaard delivered both light and shadow over the relations of the six dancers marked by the changing rhythms of the life of the metropol. And then Mancopys dancers more than ever showed character.

Jyllandsposten, John Christiansen, Sept. 20th 2007

Mancopy has with success taken over Gran Theater of Dance, now known as Archauz.

The dance is a living piece of architecture. The music creates a whole.

Six dancers dances precise and clever a very concentrated choreography, that waves back and forth between the borders of movement and stagnation.

I really enjoyed the musicality in the choreography and it's close harmony with Kim Helweg's stylish variated and spatial beatiful music, that itself is worth listening to.

Århus Stiftstidende, Kirsten Dahl, Sept. 21st 2007:

****

Every inch of Jens Bjerregaard is consistant in his conceptual shape and this time he also he shows us, that he understands how to surround himself on the dance floor with six top trained Dancers and with a Lighting Designer, a Composer and three Architects that all have an international calibre.

Consistency and precision charactererizes the piece..

The dance is sculptural in the room, physical equilibristic, professional in its contemporary, choreographic design. '

Randi Dyrberg, Århus V

The best of Mancopy! RAUM is a really good dance performance. The set design is pure magic. And the music was really good, but the best was the choreography.  ****** stars
