MimicJens Bjerregaard performs his highly acclaimed abstract solo Mimic, based on paintings by three artists: Alexander Calder, Piet Mondrian, and Jackson Pollock. Video projections create a set design on the floor where the dance unfolds and circles around, recreating/reinventing the specific qualities these three artists represent.

“A sensual amalgamation takes place on the floor projections of three modernist works of art, living proof of Bjerregaard’s deep inspiration, perhaps defining a ‘common element of art’ – an aesthetic common denominator for painting and dance. For even though there are considerable differences between Mondrian’s monochromatic rectangles and Pollocks’ wild crucifying of the self, Bjerregaard succeeds in catching them in his body’s eye and is capable of not only creating a synthesis with the creators of the paintings but also of portraying them in the instant of creation ...”
