Stringens

With the project Stringens, Mancopy gathers four highly estimated  European choreograhers, who one by one represents an outstanding, personal choreographic universe; consistent, not making compromises and without any kind of flattering for passing vogues and trends.
The Stage is set in a simple and minimalistic style and the variety and expression of the dance will be the central issue.

The Stringens performance is close to the pure and rough performance form, that shows the inner substanse of the dance and as a matter of fact the theatres as well. The choreographers of the project are free to do what they whant, but are asked to create a product, that with little but effectfull means will bring the expression of the dance and its unique form of storytelling into focus.

In the Mancopy dictionary "Stringens” means: Simple, tight, cut the crap.

Extracts of reviews

Odense has become a rich town. This year it got a really good, modern dance company, Mancopy. Both choreographers and dancers in Mancopys new program “Stringens” clearly show, that the new established company goes for artistic quality.
With his never failing sence of use of space, Jens Bjerregaard has in the trio “Embody” made a both tight and poetic choreography, where the bodies of the dancers in inventive, sculptural union creates strong lines in the room…. There is a fine impulse in the movements… a fine flow in the fluent, intricate and easy language of motion.
Anders Christiansen has created a very well done quartet entitled “Ekskursion”…. A strong choreography about dominance and rituals on an excursion to the tough playground of life.
Simple and discrete the choreographies of the evening are framed in light grey walls where the shadows of the dancers are projected with effect in Kim Gluds lightning design full of atmosphere.
Vibeke Wern, Berlingske Tidende

Hall Number 7 in Thrige in Odense proved that it can become Odenses new venue for highly estimated art forms.
The audience all wanted this project to become a success to the fiery souls in Mancopy....
The four dancers, Eve Garnier, Kristina Veit, Iker Arrue-Mauleon and Jens Bjerregaard performed bodily miracles in the large stage, heavily mirror reflected in Kim Gluds spectacular lightning design.
Marianne Koch, Fyens Stiftstidende

Abandoned factories are a temptation like magnetism to theatre- and dance groups... and that is understandable because the large, naked and decayed surfaces bring lots of history... most beautiful expressed in "Embody"... The delicate, supple sensitivity that has become one of Jens Bjerregaards characteristics, is in fine harmony with the music, when the dancers twists and twine around each other.
Mancopys four skilled dancers fill the factory hall with body and soul.
Henrik Lyding, Jyllandsposten

Anders Christiansen brings the light into the dance initiative ”Stringens” in Odense. Anders Christiansen rarely makes mistakes and in ”Ekskursion” we are meeting a choreographer with an outstanding eye to the possibilities of the stage in the large factory hall. This choreography is the peak of the evening.
Janus Kodal, Politiken
