Mancopy© Dansekompagni

Mancopy© Dansekompagni is the resident dance company at Koreographic Center Archauz in Aarhus. A repertory contemporary dance company consisting of four dancers, Mancopy was founded in 2005 by its artistic director, Jens Bjerregaard, an acclaimed Danish choreographer. Bjerregaard was artistic director of Urban Elves, a dance ensemble based in Odense, from 1998 to 2004.

The company's repertoire is built on Bjerregaard's choreography as well as that of acclaimed choreographers from around the world, including choreographers from Singapore, France, Hungary, and Italy. These works include both stage and site-specific productions. All stage productions in Aarhus take place on the Archauz stages. The site-specific work has taken place at many locations, including the local brewery production facilities, the old Aarhus bathhouse, and a local parking lot.

Archauz, under the artistic direction of Bjerregaard, is the first centre of its kind in Denmark. As a centre for choreography, the Archauz facilities include two black box stages and studio space, and the programs include an artist-in-residence program, a youth company, open classes for professionals, a biannual international choreography competition, and the production of other highly-acclaimed dance companies. For more information, see Koreografisk Center Archauz.

Mancopy© Dansekompagni receives support from the Danish Arts Council, the City of Århus, the regional government as well as private sources.
